Safe-at-Home — Decision Support for Living Safely at Home

Safe-at-Home is a decision-support application within the CareCompass Applications collection.  Its purpose is to help older adults, caregivers, and professionals thoughtfully evaluate safety, security, and preparedness in the home and surrounding neighborhood environment.

Rather than just issuing dgeneric irectives or recommendations, Safe-at-Home provides structured, guided assessments that help users identify potential risks, understand considerations, and explore practical options.  Its objective is to facilitate the ability of users to interact with the tool at their own pace and according to their own priorities. The app supports informed conversations and planning without pressure or predetermined outcomes.

Safe-at-Home is g being developed through collaboration between CareCompass subject-matter specialists, safety and care experts, and older adults themselves -- ensuring that guidance reflects both professional standards and real-world living experience.

The application is powered by ChatGPT's proprietary AI platform that is employed specifically to support sensitive, real-life decision-making.  AI helps organize information, highlight relevant factors, and surface questions users may wish to consider. Note: It does not replace human judgment, make decisions, or steer users toward products or services.

Safe-at-Home is intentionally non-biased, transparent, and non-commercial. It does not sell modifications, recommend vendors, or pressure users to take action. Individuals and families remain fully in control—using the app as a calm, respectful planning tool that supports independence, dignity, and peace of mind.

Safe-at-Home can be used on its own or alongside other CareCompass Applications, forming part of an evolving ecosystem of decision-support tools that adapt as needs, circumstances, and goals change over time.
